My Story

Rudy and Heinrich are a bonded pair of littermates.  They were owner surrenders from an elderly person who unfortunately had to go to a long-term care facility.  They have no history of biting.  Rudy was very heavy when he came in, but has done a great job losing a few extra pounds.  Rudy also had a bout with IVDD which was treated with crate rest and meds.  He is doing a lot better but it has affected his normal walking gait with a limp.

Rudy is very shy and tends to retreat to a "safe place" until he gets accustomed to a new place, so they require a loving home and someone with patience and understanding.  In return, they will give you all the cuddles you could ask for.

Both boys are accustomed to going outside a lot, so they would do best with a fenced-in yard and with someone who works from home or is retired.  As with most dachshunds, housetraining has been an on-going effort.  They are not accustomed to being walked on a leash and with Rudy's shyness, the fenced yard is important.  Heinrich loves baths and getting groomed, but Rudy is not such a fan.  They also like to sleep with their person occasionally.

Rudy and Heinrich prefer a quieter home with few or no steps.  If there are a few steps, a ramp will need to be available for Rudy to prevent any additional issues with his back.  A home with no other young dogs or young children is a must.

Both Rudy and Heinrich and up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and have had dentals.

Spread the word about this lovable doxie!
