My Story

Meet "Roo", a loyal, fun loving doxie whose favorite things in life are following her person, playing ball in the yard, and sleeping in the big bed!  Going for walks on her harness and leash is right up there too, although she potties in the yard, so walks are for fun and sniffs!

Initially, she has high anxiety at her person(s) leaving the house without her. She will sit by the door and bark and howl for about 15 minutes until settling down. Shared walls are not a good idea!   After a few days, she understands "bye bye, see you soon", and settles in her bed until the return. She is quick to adapt.  Roo loves snuggles and rubs, and will look at you lovingly all day long.  If she is corrected for something, she immediately looks sad. Roo has a presence: she is muscular and agile, and can produce a big bark when needed. She is more interested in her ball than any squirrels or her dog sisters in the backyard!

She loves men, women, older children, and will probably benefit from having as many people as possible to throw the ball and go for walks with her.  A fenced yard is a must, as she will sit by the door with her ball always ready and willing to play fetch, and jump in her doggie pool to lay down and cool off. She loves the outdoors! Roo sits nicely in the car.

She doesn't like being in a crate, which is fine because she does not have accidents, chew,or do anything else that would warrant her being enclosed. She is a jumper, but has quickly learned to wait for me to pick her up on the couch, or big bed, or to use the helper stool that is there. She will sit with me on the couch at night and nestle her head on my lap, or just be close. Roo will howl and bark if not with a person at night; she needs to be in the big bed, or near it, on her bed.

She can cohabit with other dogs in the house, but ideally would rather have her people be 100% attentive to her,  and her toys to herself.  Roo is very easy and has very few items on her bucket list. She is wishing to be someone's one and only, who enjoys the same activities and can keep up with her!  Does your bucket list match Roo's?

Spread the word about this lovable doxie!
