Remy is a good natured sweet dachshund ... he loves everyone and everyone LOVES him. Remy came in to rescue a little over 2 months ago needing back surgery. He has completely recovered and is able to walk and pee/poop on his own. With exercise, and water therapy our hope is that he will regain his strength, endurance, and muscle mass but it will take time. Remy must never climb stairs or jump on or off furnitue. He will need to use ramps or be carried. Remy enjoys being outdoors - basking in the sun - taking walks or just hanging out with his humans and canine buddies.

Remy is neutered and up to date on vaccines - Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. His fecal and HW Test were negative for parasites. On 1/13/2026 Remy had IVDD surgery (left sided hemilaminectomy at T12-13 and fenestration at T13-L1) at Purdue University Veterinary Hospital. Remy is 11 we eks post surgery with lots of water therapy and strict crate rest Remy is walking, peeing and pooping on his own. He can walk completely on his own ... but his gate is not normal yet ... that takes time. As Remy gains back his strength and muscle with continued water therapy his walk- gate  will improve.

Remy's best forever home would be quieter less active with someone home more than gone that is willing to take him for multiple short walks to help him to continue to gain his strength back in his hind legs.
