My Story

Part of the adoption process is a meet and greet at foster's home. We do not transport

Oscar is a sweet 4 year old that loves to snuggle next to his foster family or the resident doxies. He doesn’t believe in one dog per bed. He will crawl in and make room for himself wherever he can, so he will need at least one canine companion to cuddle with. He did spend time with a large older dog but he didn’t connect with him like the rest of the resident doxies. He is one of our Harvest Honeys that came into rescue with a large number of other dachshunds.  We want a buddy that is close in age to him.

There is no shortage of kisses with this one, he will sneak them wherever he has a chance! He does have a bark that only a mother would love so no shared walls is a requirement. Once he gets comfortable, he thinks he needs bark when people enter a room even if he knows them.

He will go potty outside with his foster siblings, but doesn’t necessarily signal to go out. If he has to get feet wet he would rather hold it so we have found leash walking with encouragement is helpful when he doesn’t want to go outside. This peanut does have a tendency to sneak out whenever a door opens so he needs a fenced in yard to keep him safe and allow him to track the critters. He is a fast one and always has a nose to the ground!

He would prefer someone home more than away. Oscar has warmed up to his kennel at night as long as a buddy is kenneled next to him. He does get into a bit of mischief when left unattended and will jump of furniture any chance he gets even though there are ramps everywhere. He not a fan of being kenneled when left alone, so a gated area with his buddy might be best for him.

Spread the word about this lovable doxie!
