My Story
Homer is such a handsome boy looking for a family who will cuddle him and give him
belly rubs. He loves praise and will rub his head into your body when you tell him how
good or handsome he is or when he does well with his daily exercises.
Homer is 6 years old and is fostered in Madison, WI. Unfortunately, Homer’s back went
down in late 2024. He had no deep pain sensation and lost the use of his back legs.
He came into rescue a few months ago and has gone to physical therapy at the
University of Wisconsin Vet School. He is doing well with his exercises (he should do
them every day but it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes each time). When going for
short walks in the yard, he walks with a Help em’ Up Harness that holds up his back
legs. He does scoot around the house and is quite fast. Homer recently got his own
wheels. Boy, did that change his life. He loves wheeling around the neighborhood. We
call him “Hot Wheels Homer”.
Homer needs a home with another dog. He loves to cuddle with his foster siblings and
wants to initiate play. He loves being part of the foster pack and foster family. He does
not need a fenced in yard. No young children for Homer.
Because of his back injury, Homer does not have control of his bladder or pooping. He
is easy to express for urination. He does use pee pads in his ex-pen.
He is a great guy. Very smart. He loves being outside and loves the sunspots. Homer
needs a quiet household. No young kids for Homer.
Homer does the cutest little dance when he is ready for snack and meals.
Homer is afraid of thunderstorms.
He had a tough break in life with the dachshund back issues. He is very ready for his
forever home.
