My Story
Dolly is a 4 y/o absolute bundle of joy and mischief. She is currently fostered in Darien,
IL and she is being fostered with another dachshund that she loves to snuggle up to
throughout the day. She sometimes plays with dog toys, but she can take or leave them.
Her forever home needs to have another dog. Having come from a big family she must
be touching her human or nestling up to her puppy sibling. She is protective over food,
but she has such a warm, affectionate nature that balances it all out. We are working
on it, and she has gotten so much better. However, we want her to go to home with older 13+ kids.
Dolly came into rescue with a back issue. She was walking but she was sore.
We are guessing she may have jumped off furniture. She was seem by our DR and put on meds and crate restrictions. Now has recovered nicely. She really must have ramps
around the house, or she could injure her back again. This is important as she loves to
jump up on anything and everything.
The forever home for Dolly should have someone home more often than not. She has
some mild anxiety issues that seem to come out when she is left alone. She also is
quite the barker, as most dachshunds are. So, she cannot be in an apartment or home
with shared walls.
Dolly’s favorite thing to do is show her appreciation for everything that you do for her.
After ever meal she has to come give kisses as a thank you. She follows everywhere
you go and her tail wags all day long. She sleeps the best in the big bed and is really
good at using the ramp to get in and out. The ramp for the sofa is a little more difficult
as she wants to jump up and down. Lots of patience for teaching her to always use the
ramp is needed. Even though she loves being curled up to her human in the big bed
she can sleep in the kennel without issues.
