Chessie aka Chester came to us from a shelter. Chessie was found after police did a wellness check on his owner who sadly passed away. Due to the circumstances, he was on a 10 day hold at the shelter where he contracted pneumonia. When he came into rescue he was sick but after medication, nebulizer treatments and a good diet, he made a full recovery. He was finally able to get his dental where he lost 15 teeth. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines.

Chessie is a distinguished gentleman who keeps to his own. In the beginning he did not like to be picked up but is getting use to it now.  But it is not his favorite thing. He also is not a fan of sitting on the couch.  He is fine up there for a bit to be rubbed and loved on.  He tail wags a lot more now when he sees foster mom. At mealtime he gets animated with excitement.

He is fostered with two senior dachshunds and does fine with them. He is happy to go out in the yard to sniff around and do his business. On occasion he will lay in a dog bed with one of them. He is not your dog if you are looking for a dog to play with your current dog.

At night he sleeps behind a baby gate without a peep.

Chessie can be the only dog or with another passive dog (no young pups!)

He is looking for a quite home to live out his golden years.
