Fergus

Fergus' new name is Timmy. It just seemed to fit him. He is an absolute joy! He's the sweetest little guy, and is quite entertaining to boot. He seems to be quite happy in his forever home with Rick and me. We have him on a schedule so there have only been two accidents in the house, which were probably our fault for not paying attention. He goes for a walk first thing every morning. Our neighbors probably get a kick out of seeing me in my pjs and big down coat bright and early every day.

Timmy already has a "staff." We have a wonderful pet sitter group made up of mostly college kids who come in to walk him mid-morning and mid-afternoon. They leave us notes telling us about his latest escapades such as chasing squirrels. We enjoy reading the "Timmy Tales" every night when we get home. We always take him for a walk or two at night as well. When we're both there, he wants to be on our laps or near us. He is such a cuddler. Rick is bald and Timmy LOVES to lick his head.

Timmy is also doing well in obedience school. Rick has been working with him in class and he's very good. It's a rather large class conducted by a great local trainer. The class is almost all large breeds, except for Timmy and a chihuahua. Everyone cracks up when Timmy is in the center of the class and Frank, the instructor, wants to know how we can tell when he "sits." Timmy loves school and doesn't mind homework (most of the time).

The only thing we haven't worked out yet is the cat dynamic. Timmy wants to chase the cats and barks if they come near the baby gates we have up most of the time. There was a skirmish a few weeks ago and Timmy got clawed on the chest, but it didn't seem to phase him.

We made up a pedigree name for him. One of my friends was going on and on about her purebred and its lineage. So, I gave Tim an impressive name: Timothy Belvidere Hergenroder III. (Belividere is where his foster home was and Hergenroder was my college roommate's maiden name.)

Timmy seems to be very happy in his forever home. He HATES going out in the rain, but snow doesn't bother him. He's so funny. Thanks for bringing him into our lives.
