Delilah
Adopted May, 2007

My name is Delilah, this is my story.

I was found wandering the streets. I was sick, hungry, and had lost all the hair on my tail and ears. I couldn't find my family. A kind stranger picked me up and took me to a shelter. It was a very scary place. They put me in a cage, gave me some food, and waited to see if anyone came to look for me. Unfortunately, no one did. I was so very sad, lonely, and scared. A nice person at the shelter decided to call MWDR and my life began to turn around.

A wonderful lady came and picked me up from the shelter. She took me to my first foster mom's house. Mom promptly took me to the doctor and they did all kinds of stuff to see why I was sick. They gave me lots of medicine, a warm bed, and plenty of good food. It was fun and I wasn't so scared anymore. My foster mom took a trip and I had to go to another place to stay. There was a red dachshund there just like me, and something with long legs and spots. My new mom called him a Dalmatian. He didn't care about me much, but I made friends right away with Minnie, the other dachshund. We slept together, and we kissed and played every day. There was a stuffed toy that ran around. My new mom called it a cat. It wasn't really too much fun. When it was time to go home, my new mom asked it I could stay longer. It just seemed right for everyone.

My new mom bought me a Kong and filled it with this stuff called peanut butter. It sticks to my lips for hours so I have a long time to enjoy it. She made me a coat that protects my belly because I get cold very easily. Everyone at the new house fell in love with me. My new mom said I could stay forever. I was so excited! I have a new bed to share with lots of love from everyone. I no longer need medicine, and most of my hair has grown back. I am one pretty cool dachshund now.

My reason for telling my story is to extend my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, kind, and caring people from MWDR. Their tireless quest to place homeless and abused dachshund goes on every day. Please open your hearts and homes to help this organization -- become a foster or a forever home. The joy it brings can never be measured in words.

Sincerely, Delilah
