Sponsorship allows someone to be part of improving the quality of a foster's life vicariously. Not everyone can foster and care for an animal in their environment. The sponsorship program allows a person to participate in care and recovery without physically caring for the animal. So many of the dogs coming into rescue are in desperate need of extensive vetting due to years of neglect. By choosing to sponsor, you have given these wonderful creatures a second chance in life. The older senior dogs are usually most needy, they arrive underweight with, heart and kidney problems some caused by no dental care. You will have an opportunity to see the transformation as it unfold, you we be kept informed of the dogs progress by the foster families. Because the dog is kept in their foster home until their medical condition is stable, sometimes that can equate to many months of vetting, constant blood work, for diseases like diabetes, epilepsy, and Cushing disease, cost can run into the thousands. In addition to the common diseases, we see many back injured animals, some needing surgery and extensive rehab. Back surgery and rehab could total 5-6 thousand dollars for one dog.

Update:7/27-MRI was done and he has a confimed diagnosis of severe hydrocephalus, he will be treated medically with comfort measures, his prognosis is poor. Nash needs your sponsorship for his on-going medical care. He has had one seizure and will likely have more. His bills are over the $2000.00 mark and will continue growing

Update: 10/14 Nash is still holding his own, he is on a reduced dose of medication, and currently is maintaining.
Louie went down in his back on October 22 and had emergency surgery on October 23 at the Veterinary Specialty Center by Dr. Claude Gendreau. He had Disc Herniation T12-T13 they also did fenestrate before and after. Louie did not come out walking like most dogs but when I pinched his toes he pulled back so we know that he does have some feeling. He is going to need lots of rehab and lots of tender loving care. Please keep Louie in your prayers!
He is mostly housebroken, and is getting better. It might be best to confine him to a laundry room if you will be away for a while. He is not used to being crated.
Louie is affectionate with older children, and has been fine with the few toddlers he has encountered. He gets along great with other dogs, but doesn't like cats. Louie stays pretty close in the yard, but will chase rabbits if he gets a chance. He is trying to lose some weight. Louie is a wonderful dog with a nice disposition who would be a nice companion for someone
There are two ways to sponsor, either send a monthly check and indicate who you are sponsoring or use PayPal and indicate in the message box the name of the dog you are sponsoring. Remember all contributions are tax deductible |
